You actually need something other than Reader to scan to PDF. I had the same error when I tried to scan directly from the Officejet. I am so frustrated with this thing.... Any suggestions (aside from "Get a new printer")? Note that I had somehow managed to remove some of the HP files originally loaded with this printer since it was originally purchased a few years ago, so had to place Go figure!I hope this will save someone ELSE the hours I've spent!
